The Final Countdown to the Investment Cup Final…

Stage 2 – Brocket Hall – Thursday, 13th July 2007

The second qualifying round for The Investment Cup 2007 title was successfully held on Thursday, 12th July at Brocket Hall. The competition was once again played using a full handicap, team stableford ruling with teams embarking onto Brocket’s stunning Palmerston Course via a two tee start. The days drizzle did nothing to thwart the teams efforts to claim the England regional title where, as headline sponsor for The Investment Cup, Financial Express’s impressive final score of 91 had to be forfeited thus passing the title to the New Star Investment Funds team. Investec Asset Management sponsored the Hole in One Competition with a Bentley Continental (kindly supplied by Bentley Hadley Green and sporting the number plate ZEBRA 1) as the prize but which, although there was one very close shot, unfortunately eluded all potential claimants. The Nearest the Pin competition was won by Chris Pedel of Clerical Medical (playing for Bank of New York Mellon) and the Longest Drive competition was won by William Doe of J M Finn & Co (playing for New Star).

Paul Barrington put on another great show, once again wowing his audience with a medley of new material.

Giles Kidd-May, Head of Incisive Corporate Networking commented “I am delighted at how well the inaugural Investment Cup has been contested and we are excited by the prospect of two highly impressive teams competing for The Investment Cup 2007 title. I would like to thank Financial Express, all sponsoring groups and their clients for making these events a permanent fixture”.
