Basel II Alert - Highlight of Critical Changes
It has been more than six years in the making, but the final
text of the Basel II framework has arrived. The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision
published the text at the end of June to a mix response from the financial services
industry. Although the "final" document incorporates many changes and compromises,
it is hardly set in stone. Indeed, regulators say that more changes are to come
in specific credit and operational risk areas.
Basel II Alert attempts to cover some of the most important
changes that are contained in the final Basel II document, as well as outlining
upcoming implementation plans in the US and Europe. The newsletter includes
articles on credit risk, operational risk, credit risk modelling, Pillar II,
Pillar III, securitisation and the "double default" issue.
